Meet Sandra
Sandra is a farmer in Saidi, a village in Zambia’s Eastern Province.
Each day, Sandra has to travel more than 30 minutes to the nearest water
point. She needs the water to execute basic household chores as well as
to attend to her farm in times of poor rainfall. The problem she faces is
lack of adequate access to a functional water point which would enable her
to be more productive.
With AccessMvura, she has access to a functional water point within 30
minutes of her home through a community borehole. She is also able to mitigate
the impact of climate change through improved access to water and sanitation
as it affects the most vulnerable. This is so in the case of droughts, which
affect her ability to have a successful harvest, through access to water points
which enable her to reduce vulnerability by enabling food security for herself
and her community.
